Description
A first in the growing body of work on Communist Claudia Jones, this volume collects Jones’ writings as editor of Young Communist Review to her regular editorials in the Daily Worker—titled “Half the World.”
With an Introduction by Cristina Mislán and Keona Katrice Ervin (that familiarizes readers with Jones and her place in the larger Black radical diaspora), as well as topical Introductions prior to each section, this collection is a unique contribution to Black history, Communist history, and women’s history.
Cristina Mislán is Associate Professor of Journalism Studies in the Missouri School of Journalism; Keona Katrice Ervin is Associate Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at Bowdoin College. Together they have edited this volume to make available to a new generation of readers the writings of Claudia Jones—a Communist activist and journalist who was wrongly deported in 1955.
